Celebrity Golf Classic – 15 March 2012
Local celebrities will grace the lawns of The Humewood Golf Club when the 14th Celebrity Golf Classic which is hosted by Algoa Bay Council for the Aged is held on 15 March 2012.
Amongst the celebrities who will be taking part in the event and who will be “swinging” to raise funds for the elderly are Mr South Africa 2010, Denver Burns, SA Rugby players Breyton Paulse, Rob Louw, Robbi Kempson, De Wet Barry and Danie Gerber.
Local comedian Gino Fabbri will be there alongside SA Boxing great Kallie Knoetze…this could lead to ’bouts’ of serious laughter!
To add that special touch of glamour to the event Roxy Louw and several beautiful ladies will be there on the day.
We are told that SA Sunshine Tour Golf PRO’s Titch Moore and Francois van Vuuren will host a “Mulligan” with ice cold cocktails on the 18th….does that mean if you get to take the 2nd uncounted shot at the little white ball that you get to drink the cocktail or your playing partner…whichever way the days round of golf will end on a high note indeed.
Gino Fabbri will entertain with a comedy show at the prize giving event.
Funds raised will go in particular to older people surviving on state pensions of R1040 per month.
There may still be place for your team (4-ball) to book. Phone Alta or Maureen on 041 3688434.

Cricket – ODI- SA vs Australia -Port Elizabeth 23/10/2011
When: 23 October 2011
Where: Axxess DSL St George`s, Port Elizabeth
Time: 10h00
We look forward to an action packed day of cricket – we trust that the weather will hold and look forward to seeing our fabulous cricket ground filled to overflowing with supporters.
The only dampener at this stage is that AB de Villiers, captain of the Proteas’ Castle Lager ODI and T20 squads, fractured his left hand while practising with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in India on Wednesday morning.
The Proteas Team Manager has stated that his injury will be assessed as soon as he returns home. Only then will they have an indication of the treatment and rehabilitation required and the length of time that he will be out of action.
As a result of this it is not certain whether or not he will be available for the series against Australia. For now all we can do is wish him a speedy recovery as we would like to see in in action on the 23rd at St. Georges.

The 24th September is celebrated as Heritage Day and is also our National Braai Day so I thought I would share this divine quick and easy bread recipe with you.
Invite your friends over and wow them with this “I made it myself” bread.
Enjoy!
Onion Soda Bread
Ingredients
1 1/4 Cup Plain White Bread flour
3/4 Cup Brown Bread Flour
2 teaspoons Bicarbonate of Soda
+- 300ml Buttermilk (you have to check as you are adding how much you need)
2 mini Onion Stock Cubes , crushed
1 Teaspoon Salt
Directions
Mix all the ingredients together until you have soft dough (enough to hold it’s shape, but still sticky).
Pre-heat your oven to 200C (I used heated my pizza stone)
Place the dough, formed into a circle or whatever shap you choose, on a baking tray or the pre-heated stone -
Cut the dough 3/4 through into quarters or deep slits on the top if you choose an elongated shape.
Sprinkle with a little flour and bake for about 20 – 30mins until done and sounds hollow when you tap it underneath.
Accommodation supplied by Homeleigh Halt Guest House, bed and breakfast style, where you are welcome to bring your wood and meat and have a braai beside the pool.
